Of course I'll still be your friend! That's not an if. So you have to take me out sometimes. [Her smile softens.] You're definitely going to be just like your mom. You're already wonderful. I know you can do it. I'm cheering for you, okay, Shuuya?
[He stares at her for a moment before he ducks his head away.]
Yeah. I know. Uh, and... you keep being you. You know? Like, you're great enough already. I mean-- [This isn't working. He finishes lamely.] --I'm glad you're my best friend.
[He can't look at her. All he can focus on is the patterns of her blanket and his fidgeting hands. His phone buzzes, though, giving him a welcome excuse.]
... ah, it looks like I can stay! Um, don't mind me, I'm gonna go on to the kitchen, okay?
[Without waiting for an answer he's already rushing out of her room.]
[Tsubomi blinks, then smiles to herself. Shuuya really is a bad liar. If she thinks about it, then his feelings are probably pretty obvious, right? So... maybe it's safe to ask him out soon.]
I'm coming too, Shuuya!! [She grabs a tie for her hair and runs downstairs after him.]
